A short 30-minute webinar that introduces the concept of why monitoring is important, anaesthetic risk and what main parameters we should be monitoring in an anaesthetised patient.

The learning objectives of this webinar are:

  • Discuss why monitoring is important
  • Outline when monitoring patients should start and end
  • Discuss the risk associated with anaesthesia in dogs and cats
  • List the three main aims of anaesthesia
  • List and discuss monitoring of the different organ systems (central nervous system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, temperature and other)

Dr. Laurie Steinier

BSc BVMS MANZCVS (Anaesthesia and Analgesia)

Dr. Laurie Steinier graduated from Murdoch university in 2015. She spent the next five years working as a small animal general practitioner in the Perth metropolitan area before moving across the country to Newcastle, NSW in 2020 to take up a job at Jurox as the technical veterinarian for Australia and New Zealand. It was through working at Jurox that Laurie developed a strong love for Anaesthesia and Alfaxan®, which saw her sit and pass her exams to become a member of the Anaesthesia and Analgesia chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2021. Through the Zoetis acquisition of Jurox, Laurie is now proudly a member of the Veterinary Operations team in charge of the technical aspect of the Anaesthesia and Analgesia portfolio.
